The Caregiver’s Workshop meets the 2nd Thursday of
each month from 11:30AM -1PM in the Glennon House
Please note: Busy folks may bring their lunch.
Are you in a position of
caring for a person with chronic/long term illnesses: Alzheimer’s, ALS, cancer,
stroke victims,
heart failure, aging parents, severe emotional/physical handicap, depression or
anxiety?
Join us for a time of special Biblical teachings and prayer each month at our Caregiver’s Workshop.
During the small group discussion and prayer time there are opportunities to interact with others who care for another facing life threatening and long-term medical illness. As participants receive support from physical and emotional pain that often accompanies caring for people with chronic medical ills, they also share methods for coping and nurturing the relationship during difficult periods gaining hope from the truth found in Scripture.
It’s well documented that caregivers derive tremendous encouragement from an understanding listener. James 1:19 wisely advises, “Be swift about hearing, slow about speaking.” These studies state that patient and family benefit from any means by which love and encouragement can be expressed. Thus in addition to receiving practical help, a goal of these workshops is to acknowledge that caregivers simply need to talk. Problems are easier to face and deal with when they can be talked over in an atmosphere of confidentiality.
If you are a Caregiver we hope that you join us each month to be encouraged, comforted, refreshed and renewed during this time of teaching and prayer.
Each month, on the 2nd Thursday from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., a Caregivers Workshop is held in The Glennon House with Pastor Steve Horrell and Dr. Barbara Keene, who is specially trained to minister to the needs of caregivers.
In addition, Dr. Keene has
provided extensive ministry to, and workshops for, caregivers in her role as a
therapist for the past 20+ years. Currently she works at the Episcopal
Counseling Center, Orlando Office. Her work covers spouses, adult children and
family members who deem themselves to be care providers. She also provides
individual, couple, and adult family therapy and coaching.
